01 — Overview

Do not confuse “Stop Loss” in the title with an order function

Six Reference models establish the anchor; ATR smoothing and three multipliers calculate long-side levels below and short-side levels above it. A Core tier is emphasized, and locked models can update ATR and apply an optional ratchet.

What it visualizes

A current projection rail, optional historical ATR path, Reference, Long/Short Tier 1–3, Core, right-edge tags, reach markers and a readout for MODEL, REF, ATR, BEHAVIOR, REACH and STATUS.

How it works

Reference and ATR Used are locked or updated according to the chosen model. Each tier is Reference ± ATR × multiplier. Close or Wick can define a Core reach, but the script never connects to a broker or account.

Multiple reference models

Choose Confirmed step, Live rolling, daily/weekly/monthly snapshot or Manual anchor behavior for the research question.

Three tiers and one Core

Compare three multipliers and select one emphasized Core tier. Reversed multiplier order is normalized and reported in STATUS.

Locking and ratchets

Locked models can choose ATR update behavior and separate long/short ratchets, with waiting states shown until activation.

02 — Install and start

Add it to TradingView

Add the public script to a chart and identify every drawing in the default configuration first. Change only one input at a time.

Open the public ATR Stop Loss Calibrator – Volatility Exit Ladder page and add it to a TradingView chart. No SG Group account is required.

  1. Open the “Use on TradingView” link below.
  2. Select “Use on chart” on TradingView to add the script to your chart.
  3. Open the gear icon, then Settings → Inputs, and observe the default configuration first.
  4. Change one input at a time for the symbol and timeframe you are studying.

Prevent misreads when indicators overlap

Overlapping lines, bands, backgrounds or tables can be duplicate drawings of the same kind of information. Never treat visual overlap by itself as stronger evidence or signal agreement. Another ATR stop, Supertrend, average-entry tool, pivot study or manual horizontal levels can pack seven or more rails into the same price area. This is one of the highest-risk overlap combinations.

  • Start with Show current projection rail and leave Show historical ATR path and Show historical core ribbon off.
  • Toggle Show reference level, Show tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 one at a time to identify every rail.
  • Set Right-edge tags to Core only or Off so another tool’s labels remain readable.
  • A Long/Short Core overlap with a stop or pivot line is not independent confirmation of safety or suitability.
03 — How to read it

A practical reading order

Do not turn one value or color into a conclusion. Check the condition, persistence and relationship to price in order.

Identify MODEL and REF

Start with the reference model and the age or origin of the active reference.

Check ATR and Core

Identify ATR smoothing, update behavior and the selected Core multiplier.

Read BEHAVIOR and REACH

Separate Fixed, Immediate and Delayed behavior from Wick reached and Close beyond.

Status and display terms

MODEL

The active Reference model and ATR update behavior for locked models.

REF

The active reference price and its age in bars.

CORE

The selected emphasized Tier and its ATR multiplier.

Fixed / Immediate / Delayed

Locked or ratcheting level behavior.

Not reached / Wick reached / Close beyond

Separates no reach, wick touch and close beyond the Core level.

Tier order normalized

The three multipliers were not ascending and have been normalized.

  • Long, Short and Any ATR core reference reached.

  • ATR reference reset; reach behavior follows Close/Wick and Confirmed-bar events inputs.

Not a buy/sell signal

This tool is for analysis and visualization. It is not investment advice, a trade recommendation, a forecast, or a promise of profit or accuracy. Results depend on inputs, symbol, timeframe, and data feed. You remain responsible for every trading decision.

Not an order

Levels are analytical references. The script creates no stop order and reads no account or position.

Does not model execution

Gaps, spread, slippage, liquidity, market closures and contract terms can prevent execution at a displayed level.

Live modes can change intrabar

Live rolling, Live each bar, Live extremes and unconfirmed events can change values or events inside the bar. A blanket non-repainting claim would be inaccurate.

Important

Long and Short identify below-reference and above-reference sides, not directional recommendations. Narrow is not automatically better, wide is not automatically safer, and Calibrator does not optimize parameters.

Is ATR Stop Loss Calibrator – Volatility Exit Ladder free to use?

Yes. It is a free, open-source indicator published by SG Group on TradingView. Review TradingView’s terms and the conditions attached to the public script before reuse or redistribution.

Should I change the settings immediately?

Start with the published defaults and observe the drawings and state changes first. Then change one input at a time for the symbol, timeframe and data feed so you can identify what caused each visual change.

Can I display it with other indicators?

Yes, but similar lines, bands, backgrounds and tables can overlap and obscure their source. Isolate each indicator first and hide duplicate components. Visual overlap alone is not stronger evidence or signal agreement.

Does the display provide trade signals?

No. It is analysis and visualization context consistent with the public description. It does not provide entries, exits, targets, stops, price forecasts, or promises of profit, win rate or accuracy.

Do the plotted lines become real stop orders?

No. They are chart-based research references. The script does not connect to a broker, send orders or read an account or position, and actual execution can differ because of gaps, spread and slippage.
