Divide configured Tokyo, London, New York or custom intraday focus windows into four equal clock-time phases. Measure gross price travel, direction and directional efficiency in each phase, classify the completed sequence and compare it with prior occurrences of the same named window.

01 — Overview

Study the internal path, not merely the session clock

A conventional session highlighter primarily shows when a regional session is active. This study examines where gross travel occurred inside a narrower focus window, whether each phase moved directionally or rotated, and whether travel was front-loaded, late, concentrated or evenly distributed. A window sometimes called a kill zone is not assumed to guarantee an outcome.

What it visualizes

Each completed window can display a two-line strip: P1-P4 direction marks on line one, then completed path classification and peak phase on line two. The fixed PATH PULSE panel organizes FOCUS, STATUS, PATH, four-phase PULSE and historical CTX. PULSE is not volume or order flow.

How it works

For each sampled bar, gross travel is the maximum of high minus low, absolute high minus the previous sampled close, and absolute low minus that close. The first sampled bar uses high-low. Travel is assigned to four equal clock phases, then shares, displacement and directional efficiency enter a deterministic priority-ordered classification.

Phase share is not volume

Phase gross travel is divided by completed-window gross travel. It identifies which time quarter contained measured price movement, not volume, trade direction or participation.

Direction requires efficiency

A phase is UP or DOWN only when absolute open-to-close displacement divided by gross phase travel reaches the configured threshold. Otherwise it is rotational.

Histories remain independent

Asia open, London open, New York open, London close and Custom Focus keep separate histories. P1 is compared with prior P1 values from the same named window.

02 — Install and start

Add it to TradingView

Add the public script to an intraday chart such as five minutes and identify the default phase strips and fixed panel first. Enable the adaptive lens or research blocks one at a time.

Open the public Intraday Price Path Signature – London New York Tokyo Windows page and add it to a TradingView chart. No SG Group account is required.

  1. Open the “Use on TradingView” link below.
  2. Select “Use on chart” on TradingView to add the script to your chart.
  3. Open the gear icon, then Settings → Inputs, and observe the default configuration first.
  4. Change one input at a time for the symbol and timeframe you are studying.

Prevent misreads when indicators overlap

Overlapping lines, bands, backgrounds or tables can be duplicate drawings of the same kind of information. Never treat visual overlap by itself as stronger evidence or signal agreement. Session shading, opening-range or kill-zone tools, other phase annotations and fixed dashboards can obscure the source of a window or label. The adaptive lens is dynamic phase context, not ordinary static session shading.

  • Hide other session and kill-zone backgrounds while identifying this study’s phase strips and panel.
  • Enable Phase strip, Adaptive phase lens and Pulse blocks one at a time; do not stack several color layers over the same window.
  • Move Price-path panel position or hide the panel when it covers another table or legend.
  • Session high/low and opening-range lines come from other tools, not this study’s primary output. Do not count them as a duplicate price-path observation.
03 — How to read it

A practical reading order

Do not infer direction from a window name. Separate P1-P4 direction, gross-travel share, completed path classification and comparison with prior matching windows.

Verify eligibility and status

The default requires a standard intraday chart at or below 15 minutes. Read LIVE, CLOSED or WAIT and treat live values as provisional until the window finishes.

Read P1-P4 before the path label

Interpret ↑ as upward, ↓ as downward, ↔ as rotational and · as insufficient observation. Then read the completed descriptive class; it is not a forecast.

Separate PULSE from CTX

PULSE shows the current distribution of gross price travel. CTX reports phase comparison with prior matching windows. Neither is volume, probability or win rate.

Status and display terms

● LIVE / ○ CLOSED / · WAIT

The window is developing, completed, or waiting for an eligible observation. LIVE values remain provisional.

P1-P4: ↑ / ↓ / ↔ / ·

Upward, downward, rotational or insufficiently observed phase direction.

Persistent rise / Persistent fall

Sufficient window efficiency and aligned phase travel; not a prediction of continuation.

Rotational path

The configured number of phase-direction changes without qualifying as persistent.

Front-loaded / Late acceleration

A completed path concentrated in P1-P2 or P3-P4 respectively.

Phase concentration / Evenly distributed / Mixed path

Single-phase dominance, small share spread, or no earlier priority condition.

Excluded sample

A partial, sparse or zero-travel completion excluded from the historical baseline.

PULSE / CTX

Current four-phase gross-travel distribution / matching-window historical context; not volume or order flow.

The labels below match the published script’s English Inputs panel. Defaults reflect the public source at the time of review and may change in a later TradingView update.

On small screens, each input is reformatted as a readable stacked card.

05 — Alerts

Factual window start, completion and concentration alerts

Alerts report that a window started, completed or contained an unusually concentrated phase versus its own history. They do not instruct direction or continuation.

  • Alert when a window starts sends a dynamic message at the start of an eligible enabled window.
  • Alert when a window completes reports the finalized descriptive path classification.
  • Alert when a completed phase is unusually concentrated reports the completed window’s peak phase at or above the configured historical percentile.
06 — Limitations and responsible use

Not a buy/sell signal

This tool is for analysis and visualization. It is not investment advice, a trade recommendation, a forecast, or a promise of profit or accuracy. Results depend on inputs, symbol, timeframe, and data feed. You remain responsible for every trading decision.

Bars cannot reconstruct the intrabar route

The calculation is a true-range-style bar approximation. It does not know tick order inside a candle and does not reconstruct order flow.

Incomplete or sparse windows are excluded

Partial starts, insufficient observed phases, zero measurable travel, unsupported timeframes and disallowed chart types do not enter the empirical baseline.

Percentiles depend on the sample

Results depend on history length, thresholds, symbol, timeframe, feed, missing bars and holidays. A completed value is ranked before it is added, with ties assigned a mid-rank.

No automatic market calendar

Holidays, early closes and exchange-specific breaks are not detected. IANA timezones handle local clocks, but official instrument hours still require verification.

Important

Path classes, concentration, efficiency and percentiles all derive from the same price bars. Do not count them as independent signals or interpret them as entries, exits, targets, stops, sizing, predictions, probabilities, win rate or advice.

Is Intraday Price Path Signature – London New York Tokyo Windows free to use?

Yes. It is a free, open-source indicator published by SG Group on TradingView. Review TradingView’s terms and the conditions attached to the public script before reuse or redistribution.

Should I change the settings immediately?

Start with the published defaults and observe the drawings and state changes first. Then change one input at a time for the symbol, timeframe and data feed so you can identify what caused each visual change.

Can I display it with other indicators?

Yes, but similar lines, bands, backgrounds and tables can overlap and obscure their source. Isolate each indicator first and hide duplicate components. Visual overlap alone is not stronger evidence or signal agreement.

Does the display provide trade signals?

No. It is analysis and visualization context consistent with the public description. It does not provide entries, exits, targets, stops, price forecasts, or promises of profit, win rate or accuracy.

How is this different from a session highlighter?

A session highlighter primarily identifies active hours and may draw session levels. This study divides narrower focus windows into P1-P4 and analyzes internal gross-travel distribution, efficiency, completed path and matching-phase history.
