01 — Overview

Separate free movement from the movement removed by the guardrail

The plotted series remains ta.sar(). The study does not adapt SAR, filter side changes, optimize factors or rank opportunities. It distinguishes runs observed from their beginning from runs already underway when tracking starts.

What it visualizes

Defaults show cyan/pink SAR dots, green/amber extreme traces, translucent arc fill, small side-change markers, yellow material-constraint halos and a compact upper-right panel. Candidate points, bridges, midline, origin line and detailed labels are optional.

How it works

Free candidate = previous SAR + previous observed AF × (previous EP − previous SAR). Below price, the guarded candidate is the minimum of the candidate and prior two lows; above price, the maximum with prior two highs. Related percentages require agreement with ta.sar() within tolerance.

Arc retention and latched contraction

Arc = abs(SAR − tracked EP). Retention = 100 × current arc / widest arc in this run. Defaults enter TIGHT after five bars at or below 35%; release requires a new EP and at least 55% retention. Crossing 35% alone does not release the state.

Constraint load and transmission

Load = 100 × removed distance / free step. TX = 100 × guarded directional step / free directional step. Both need synchronization and a valid positive denominator and are bounded to 0–100%. A ten-tick step reduced to six gives 40% load and 60% TX.

Observed AF and complete runs

Observed AF = min(start + recorded EP updates × increment, effective maximum). It is reconstructed, not an exposed internal ta.sar() AF. PARTIAL runs cannot recover unobserved EP updates and do not enter completed-run history.

02 — Install and start

Add it to TradingView

Start on standard candles or bars. Identify canonical dots, the extreme-point trace, arc, yellow halos and panel before changing one input at a time.

Parabolic SAR Constraint Kinematics & Run Geometry

Open the public Parabolic SAR Constraint Kinematics & Run Geometry page and add it to TradingView. No SG Group account is required.

  1. Open the “Use on TradingView” link below.
  2. Select “Use on chart” on TradingView to add the script to your chart.
  3. Open the gear icon, then Settings → Inputs, and observe the default configuration first.
  4. Change one input at a time for the symbol and timeframe you are studying.

Prevent misreads when indicators overlap

Overlapping lines, bands, backgrounds or tables can be duplicate drawings of the same kind of information. Never treat visual overlap by itself as stronger evidence or signal agreement. Another SAR with matching factors duplicates the dots. Trailing stops, ATR exit lines, extreme traces, backgrounds and fixed tables can overlap. Identify candidate points separately from canonical SAR.

  • Hide other SAR studies to isolate canonical dots and yellow halos.
  • Add candidate, bridge, midline and origin layers one at a time.
  • Separate background/bar colors and move overlapping panels.
  • Distinguish drawing limits from completed-run statistical memory.
03 — How to read it

A practical reading order

Check FULL/PARTIAL, ARC and STEP before MOTION. The panel shows the latest execution, not the historical bar under the cursor. Enable extended Data Window output for historical values inside the research window.

State and elapsed bars

BELOW/ABOVE describes the tracked SAR side. RUN “11b ✳3 ∥4” means eleven bars, three EP updates and four bars since the latest EP.

Distance and movement

ARC gives normalized distance and retention. STEP gives absolute one-bar SAR movement and its ratio to the remaining arc; that ratio can exceed 100% and is not a return.

Read the fixed-band signature

CODE A/F/P/C means arc retention, AF progress, EP pause share and current load. A/F/P use fixed 25% bands 1–4. C0 is valid load below 1%; C1 is 1–<25%, then C2/C3/C4 start at 25/50/75%. C- is unavailable. These are not sample quartiles or rankings.

Status and display terms

FULL / PARTIAL

Observed from the start / tracking began mid-run. Only completed FULL runs enter history.

INIT / CHECK

Ineligible reconstruction / mismatch beyond tolerance. Related percentages are withheld.

FREE / TRACE

Below measurable thresholds / measurable but below materiality. FREE need not mean exactly zero.

BRAKE / PINNED

Material load with guarded directional step above / at or below a quarter tick.

TX / AF

Step transmission / AF reconstructed from tracked EP updates.

CODE / HIST

Four-axis signature / sample count, mean duration and brief share when signature is hidden. n20 means twenty retained runs.

P / C-

P = 100 × bars since EP / (age − 1), zero at age one. C- means load unavailable.

SYNTHETIC / TIGHT

Non-standard transformed chart / latched arc-contraction state.

The labels below match the published script’s English Inputs panel. Defaults reflect the public source at the time of review and may change in a later TradingView update.

On small screens, each input is reformatted as a readable stacked card.

Enable descriptive alert conditions, then create the desired TradingView alert. The events describe observations and do not place orders.

  • Run-age milestone, observed AF maximum, EP pause and completion of a brief full run.
06 — Limitations and responsible use

Not a buy/sell signal

This tool is for analysis and visualization. It is not investment advice, a trade recommendation, a forecast, or a promise of profit or accuracy. Results depend on inputs, symbol, timeframe, and data feed. You remain responsible for every trading decision.

Intrabar values can change

Bar-close confirmation commits state and event records, but the live SAR, geometry, constraint calculations, halos and current signature may still change before close. The script is not completely non-repainting.

Tolerance is a consistency check

Default tolerance is two ticks. Agreement does not prove exact recovery of all internal states or a predictive edge. CHECK withholds percentages, INIT means ineligible, and invalid denominators yield unavailable data.

History and synthetic charts matter

The initial 3000-bar boundary rebuilds on reload, rather than sliding continuously. SYNTHETIC charts measure transformed OHLC. Only completed FULL runs enter history; valid occupancy history may use a different sample from duration and brief-run history.

Important

Dots, traces, arcs, halos and signatures share related inputs. Their coincidence is not independent confirmation, a win rate or a reversal probability.

Is it free?

It is a free open-source TradingView indicator. Check the publication terms before redistribution.

Does a yellow halo predict a reversal?

No. It marks a synchronized material constraint on the SAR step.

Do alerts trade automatically?

The indicator does not place orders. Alerts report observed descriptive events.

Does hovering a past bar update the panel?

The panel shows the latest execution. Enable extended Data Window metrics for historical numeric inspection.
